Now that Manitowoc and Two Rivers are separating from the Manitowoc Area Visitor and Convention Bureau, both cities are making moves in the creation of their own tourism departments.
Two Rivers has already named their Interim Tourism Director.
City Manager Greg Buckley told Seehafer News that they have hired Amy James into the role.
He explained that she “[has] a background as Tourism Coordinator at the Waupaca Area Chamber, and also served for several years as the Executive Director of Future Neenah, which deals with downtown and tourism related issues.”

James said of her new job, “I believe that Two Rivers holds exciting opportunities for growing our tourism industry by implementing new strategies for connecting our amenities and refining how we promote the wonderful gem we have to offer here.”
As far as what is happening in Manitowoc, Mayor Justin Nickels explained, “Within the next few days, we will be announcing who the new Director of the Tourism Department will be, an exciting first step for this new department, whose sole purpose is to promote Manitowoc, and ensure our visitors have an excellent experience while here.”
Both city leaders also said that they will continue to work together in the marketing of the Manitowoc/Two Rivers area, as many visitors see the two as one vacation location.
