January figures indicate Milwaukee County is on pace for more than 300 homicides this year.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office says 24 of the 25 homicides in the county were inside the Milwaukee city limits.
The ME’s office says it took until mid-March to reach the same number last year.
Milwaukee police report there were twice as many homicides in January this year as there were in 2021 – and there were nearly four times as many as there were in any of the previous three months of January.
