After a short but very courageous battle with cancer, Janice B. Krueger, age 72, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Wednesday evening, January 26, 2022, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay, with her loving family, holding her hands, at her side.
The former Janice Hoppe was born on September 9, 1949, in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Lester and Dorothy (Wuestenhagen) Hoppe. Janice grew up in Howards Grove and was a 1967 graduate of Howards Grove High School. She also received some education and volunteered as an EMT for the town if Newton in the late 1980s. In 2020, Janice went back to school and graduated with honors into Phi Theta Kappa with a degree in Horticulture from LTC in Cleveland, where she was on the Dean’s List. Janice worked for a family when she was in high school and later at Brey Steue and Braun, she farmed for several years following that, then worked at Santas Best and later for Manitowoc Ice from which she retired. She also enjoyed working at local bar and grilles as a cook and a bartender. She was a hard worker, a talented cook and had a love for socializing. People loved her fun and fiery spirit! For Janice, her love and pride was in her family, her children and her grandchildren who always came first. She also was driven with strong compassion and desire to help others. She was a great supporter for Pink Heals, and often volunteered for misc. events. Janice enjoyed flower gardening, landscaping, rock painting, listening to live music, traveling and was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers along with the Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. She had a zest for life and was a woman of inspiration, conviction, determination, compassion, empathy, and the list goes on and on. Janice has left a HUGE imprint on many many hearts and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Paula (Tim) Petri, Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-law: Rick (Sara) Krueger, Valders; four grandchildren: Dylan Beeman and his significant other Ashley Miller, Layla Krueger, Elizabeth Krueger, Kali Petri; three great grandchildren: Harleigh Beeman, Martin Zeitler, Leighla Petri; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Ervin (Judy) Hoppe, Anchorage, AK, Janice Hoppe, Sheboygan; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Virginia Radtke, Sheboygan, JoAnn (Mike) Austreng, Cleveland, Gloria (Tom) Kanzelberger, Sheboygan Falls, Susan Ebert, Gulfport, FL. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester and Dorothy Hoppe; one brother: Karl Hoppe; and one brother-in-law: Jim Radtke.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home (818 State Street), Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Gregory Pope with burial of her cremated remains at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m.
