A 37-year-old Rock County man will spend the rest of his life in a mental health facility for killing his grandmother.
That order for Jamie Beggs was issued Wednesday.
He will be eligible for extended supervision after 25 years.
Beggs was living with 97-year-old Kathleen Beggs when he stabbed her and strangled her to death last June.
He entered a guilty plea in Rock County Court three weeks ago to a charge of first-degree intentional homicide.
Prosecutors agreed with a doctor’s diagnosis that he had a mental illness that made him not legally responsible for the killing.
