Loretta M. Norkosky, age 89, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, with family by her side.
Loretta was born on December 13, 1932 in Manitowoc to the late Newphrey and Clara (Andrastek) Check. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. On August 4, 1956, Loretta married Wallace G. Norkosky at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manitowoc and celebrated 62 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2019. Loretta had worked as a secretary for Dewane Law Offices, Lakeshore Technical Institute in Admissions and at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in the Administration Office. In her retirement, she worked part-time in the St. Mary’s Parish Office and in the cashier’s office at Pietroske Automotive. Loretta was an avid bowler, enjoyed reading, playing bingo, playing bridge marathons, listening to Polka music and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and an honorary member of St. Clare Society.
Survivors include Loretta’s three sons, Wallace Norkosky Jr., Manitowoc; James (Brenda) Norkosky, Golden Valley, MN; and Alan (Lori) Norkosky, Manitowoc; daughter, Nancy (Rick) Peronto, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, Evan, James, and Ryan, Lori Norkosky, Brianna Gunderson, Lauren (Brady) Greene, and Austin Norkosky; sister, Barbara (Bob) Jameson; also other relatives and friends. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Newphrey and Clara Check; husband, Wally; sister and brother-in-law, Esther (Zeke) Tittl; two brothers-in-law, Earl and Kenneth; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Koch.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel and burial of Loretta’s cremated remains will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will then be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
