The UW Green Bay Men’s basketball team outshot the Oakland Grizzlies on Saturday but still ended up losing the final game of their four-game homestand 68-61.
The Grizzlies entered halftime with a 38-26 lead, which the Phoenix could not overcome.
UWGB outshot Oakland both from inside, and beyond the arc, but were beaten at the charity stripe, only making 63% of their free throws, compared to the Grizzlies’ 90%.
The Phoenix again relied on a balanced attack, with Kaukauna graduate Donovan Ivory scoring 18 points, including three buckets from three-point land, while Cade Meyer added 16, and Emmanuel Ansong had 13.
Oakland meanwhile relied on Jamal Cain and Trey Townsend, who combined for 49 of their team’s 68 points.
The loss drops the Phoenix to 4-14 on the year, with all four wins occurring at home.
UWGB has a few days off before they start a four-game road series at Youngstown State on Thursday.
