A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he reportedly drunkenly struck his child.
The wife of the 49-year-old man and mother of the child called the police at around 11:45 PM on Saturday after she saw her husband hit the child on surveillance footage.
When officers arrived at the home, the woman explained that she was fed up with the man’s drunken antics and went into the garage to get away.
She said that she pulled up the home security camera footage when she heard the dogs begin to bark, which is when she saw the man swing at the child.
Officers spoke with the child, who claimed that their father began yelling at them about being disrespectful before pushing them into a closet and hitting them multiple times.
A second child told police that they heard the incident and was hiding under an oversized teddy bear because they were scared of what their father would do to them.
The mother showed the surveillance footage to the officers, and the man was arrested. He is facing charges of Disorderly Conduct, and Physical Abuse of a Child.
