A mother and grandmother are facing child abuse charges in Manitowoc.
The 23 and 53-year-old women were arrested last week Friday after bringing the infant to Aurora Medical Center on Memorial Drive.
The doctor who cared for the infant prior to having them airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee told police that the child had a 1% chance of survival.
It is not clear at this time how the infant is doing.
The mother admitted to doing cocaine while pregnant with the infant, and the grandmother was found to be in possession of a crack cocaine smoking device.
Both have been charged with Neglecting a Child Causing Great Bodily Harm and will be in court today for their bail hearings.
The courts were closed yesterday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
