Rock County District Attorney David O’Leary says a Beloit police officer was justified when she shot a man during a struggle last month.
No charges will be filed against Beloit Police Sergeant Shannon Dykstra.
The DA ruled Dykstra’s actions on December 15th were legal and appropriate.
29-year-old Jorge Bautista Almaraz was wounded when he tried to take the sergeant’s gun during a struggle.
Dykstra was able to push Almaraz away and order him to get on the ground.
When he repeatedly refused and kept trying to attack her, she shot him.
All of the incident was recorded on her body camera.
