Two games have been canceled for the UW Green Bay women’s basketball team as they battle COVID-19.
According to the University, several tests have come back positive in the program, which has resulted in the cancellation of their contests against Cleveland State tonight, and Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday.
As is Horizon League policy, these games would be listed as forfeits for the Phoenix unless deemed a no-contest by the Commissioner.
Green Bay sought to deem the missed competitions as no contests since the team was to unable field a team due to breakthrough cases among vaccinated student-athletes.
Commissioner Julie Roe Lach granted the requested relief noting that it satisfied the extraordinary standard.
The next game on the schedule for the Phoenix will be a home-and-home series against UW Milwaukee on January 21st and 23rd.
