A 48-year-old Menasha woman is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide in Shawano County.
Authorities say Tina L. McCandless tried to kill her estranged husband last week. She was arrested at the victim’s home in the Town of Morris.
He told investigators the two started arguing while they were drinking.
McCandless left to go to her home in Menasha where she had been living, but he says she returned, woke him up, and told him to put on his wedding ring.
She agreed that he could get dressed by started shooting multiple rounds, hitting him in the leg.
When she reached for a cigarette he says he tackled her to save his own life – while she continued firing.
He finally got control of the gun and called 9-1-1.
She’s being held on a $500,000 bond.
