State Senator Andre Jacque has introduced a bill that aims to expand the Court-Appointed Special Advocate program in Wisconsin.
The bill written by the 1St District Senator and Assembly District 85 Representative Patrick Snyder, requires the governor to allocate $6.8 million of funds received under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 over the next two years.
This money would help clear the backlog and expand the existing CASA program to serve all eligible children in existing local CASA programs, and to create two new CASA county programs in 2022 and two new CASA county programs in 2023.
There are currently seven counties ready and waiting for a CASA program, none of which are in Northeast Wisconsin.
