Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc has announced the recall of their salads.
The voluntary recall includes all Dole-branded and private label packaged salads processed at its Springfield, OH and Soledad, CA production facilities that contain iceberg lettuce.
The reason for the recall is due to a possible risk of Listeria monocytogenes.
This bacterium causes Lysteria, which can be fatal in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, while healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Products subject to the voluntary recall from Springfield, OH are identified by a product lot code beginning with the letter “W” and a “Best if Used By” date between December 22, 2021, and January 9, 2022.
