Milwaukee Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson says his city will receive $61 million in federal funding to help residents who can’t pay their rent.
Any family needing help can apply for federal assistance through the Social Development Commission.
Johnson says the money can be used by qualified households to pay rent – or back rent.
It can also be used for energy costs and housing-related.
There’s enough money to help about 5,000 households.
