
The Manitowoc Police Department has made an arrest in the armed robbery case from last week.
According to Captain Peter McGinty, a search warrant was issued for the home address of a suspect in the 1300 block of South 15th Street, resulting in the County SWAT team being called into action.
Out of an abundance of caution, nearby Jackson Elementary and Washington Junior High Schools were put on lockdown.
The subsequent search uncovered a variety of items that were stolen from the Boost Mobile Store on Washington Street, a large quantity of cash, a handgun, and a “large quantity of base cocaine which was packaged for sale”.
The 32-year-old suspect, who has a history of aggravated robbery in Illinois, was arrested on charges of Robbery with the Threat of a Dangerous Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver with an enhancer of being armed with a Dangerous Weapon.
The man is awaiting his bail proceedings.
