According to the latest census figures, the city of Kiel experienced a population growth of about 5% between 2010 and 2020.
City Administrator Jamie Aulik made an appearance on WOMT’s Be My Guest Program and called the increase “incremental, but Kiel continues to grow.”
With just shy of 4,000 citizens, Aulik explained that “We are about the same size as Chilton, and Brillion is just a little smaller at 3,200.”
Aulik estimated within the next year or two, they should be over 4,000 in population.
On the construction end of things, Aulik said that they have seen “19 units of new housing built in the city. That’s a mix of single-family homes, and condos. It’s a good mix of different types of housing in our three growing subdivisions.”
He explained the community has also seen some industry expansion.
“HG Weber, which is a paper bag manufacturing company…expanded and built a new addition,” the City Administrator explained. “If you come in from the northside on State Highway 67, once you get past Sargento, you will see a new auto parts store going up.”
Jamie Aulik said he can’t disclose what it is right now but said there is a deal in place for a business to occupy the former Shopko location.
