Details have been released regarding the attack on a special education teacher at Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
Due to their status as a minor, the name of the student was redacted, however, a reliable source informed us that the individual was a female.
The situation began at around 8:45 AM on December 9th when the school resource officer was called to room 105 for a crisis situation.
The officer arrived to find the classroom in shambles.
It was later stated by one of the teachers in the room that he and another teacher had confronted the female student who was trying to get a group together to beat up a teacher.
Everyone else was asked to leave the classroom and confronted the student who was using the school’s landline.
When the teacher pressed on the button to end the phone call, the student struck the female teacher with the receiver, punched her repeatedly, and threw the phone at her.
The teacher became entangled in the phone cord, and while she attempted to get herself free, with help from the male teacher, the student threw furniture around the room, along with classroom material, and other students’ belongings.
The student then picked up a chair and threw it at the female teacher. The chair hit its target and broke upon impact.
A teacher’s assistant saw what was happening and called the school resource officer.
When the officer arrived, the student was standing in the corner of the room.
After they were told they were going home for the day, the student then walked across the room, picked up a chair, and hurled it at one of the two teachers in the room.
The chair narrowly missed the male teacher’s head, and the school was put on a hold while the officer placed the student under arrest.
The student pushed back, attempting to resist being placed in handcuffs, and continually attempted to slam her head into the floor.
The student continued to resist officers as EMS arrived, but they were able to strap the student onto a cot and escorted her from the school.
The student was in court for their initial appearance yesterday and was charged with Battery to School Employees, Criminal Damage to Property, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting an Officer.
The date and time of their next court appearance is not known at this time.
