Effective immediately, Manitowoc County Health Department is adopting theĀ recently updated CDC COVID-19 isolation and quarantine period for the general public.
The CDC is recommending that anyone who tests positive, regardless of vaccination status, isolate for only five days if they are fever-free for 24 hours, and they can wear a well-fitting mask for 5 additional days when around others.
Those who come in contact with someone who tested positive and has received the booster shot, completed the Pfizer or Moderna series in the last six months, or have received the J & J vaccine within the last two months will have new quarantine rules as well.
They will be asked to wear a mask around others for 10 days and get a test on day five if possible.
The unvaccinated and those who were vaccinated beyond the previously stated times will be asked to stay home for five days and wear a mask for five additional days, or if quarantining is not possible, wear a mask for 10 days.
They also will be asked to get tested on day five if possible.
