After serving as Merrill’s city clerk for nearly 24 years, Bill Heideman says it’s time for him to step aside.
Heideman says he thinks the city is going in the wrong direction when it comes to civility and the willingness to work together.
He says it isn’t just one thing leading to his decision and he isn’t calling anyone out.
Heideman says one of his biggest challenges recently has been trying to restore public trust in local government.
His last day on the job will be January 3rd, three months before his term was set to expire.
