University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate Ken Sembach is heading up the project that just launched a new, powerful telescope into space.
Sembach earned his P-h-D in Madison in 1992.
The Webb Telescope launched Saturday morning. Sembach says it will be able to show scientists all kinds of things they couldn’t see before
It will be able to look at galaxies billions of light-years away – giving a much more complete picture than the one we’ve seen through the Hubble telescope.
It might even detect life on other planets.
