Two businesses in Sheboygan County were in the giving spirit this holiday season.
The Sheboygan County Food Bank and the County Humane Society each received $5,000 donated by Meijer through their Meijer Team Gives program.
This is the first year of that program, in which the company donated over $3 million to over 500 nonprofit organizations.
Meanwhile, Acuity Insurance split $500,000 in donations to numerous area nonprofits.
$150,000 was donated to charities selected by the employees at Acuity, in which $100 would be given to the charity of their choice.
The remaining $350,000 was split between Safe Harbor, Mental Health America, Conquer Cancer, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Fresh Meals on Wheels, and the Salvation Army.
