The Wisconsin Rapids City Council has given its approval to a plan that will eliminate the job of Public Works Director Joe Terry.
The department is being restructured will engineering, streets, and wastewater reporting directly to Mayor Shane Blaser.
Not everybody on the council is happy with the change – including one council member who voted to approve.
Sheri Evanson called the decision “reckless” and said the situation was “toxic,” but she voted for the move so Terry will get $55,000 in compensation if he resigns by January 7th.
The only council member who voted no, Tom Rayone, said the decision showed “total incompetency.”
