The bickering over who gets credit for a 1.8 billion-dollar budget surplus has started.
Governor Tony Evers announced Tuesday the state collected that much revenue in addition to what was spent. It’s a rosy financial situation in Madison.
The surplus comes on top of another almost 1.8 million dollars the state already had in its so-called Rainy Day fund.
Conservatives say Republican lawmakers should get the credit due to efforts to control state spending dating back to the Scott Walker administration.
They say the GOP fight against raising taxes has created a booming state economy.
