
Marquette shot well and got 20 points from forward Justin Lewis, but still fell short in a 78-70 loss to U-Conn.
It was the home opener for the Golden Eagles and dropped their record to 0-2 in the Big East, 8-5 overall.
Marquette connected on 48 percent of its floor shots and cut the deficit to one point late in the game, but the Huskies answered by scoring eight straight points.
U-Conn has beaten Marquette three straight times.
Tyler Kolek dished out eight assists and Marquette was forced to play without starting guard Darryl Morsell who entered the health and safety protocols.
The next action for coach Shaka Smart’s team will be December 29th at St. John’s.
