Manitowoc’s representative in the State Assembly is pushing a bill that aims to help clubhouses, much like one located in Manitowoc.
25th Assembly District Representative Paul Tittl was on the WCUB Breakfast Club yesterday, where he described what exactly the so-called “Clubhouse Bill” would do.
“This one would be a matching grant foundation,” Tittl explained. “If they say raised $50,000, they could apply for $50,000 in aid from the government.”
One such organization that would benefit from this bill is Painting Pathways in Manitowoc.
“It is a clubhouse for people who have a diagnosed mental illness,” Tittl said. “It’s a hangout place where they can go and become part of something. They can learn life skills, and they can have a good place to go.”
Tittl explained that on top of being a matching grant program, the bill would require applicants to be an accredited clubhouse.
The Assemblyman said that the accreditation process is rather rigorous, so organizations that can take advantage of the proposed program would have been vetted under strict criteria.
Tittl went on to call on citizens to channel their giving nature and donate to Painting Pathways, or any other local charitable organization of their choosing.
