The Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office says it isn’t going to file criminal charges against Whitewater Police Chief Aaron Raap.
He was placed on administrative leave two weeks ago.
The Waukesha office is handling the case to avoid a conflict of interest for local officials.
Investigators say there is no evidence Raap intended to hurt anyone.
He was arrested at his home on Thanksgiving Day on a tentative charge of domestic battery.
It was determined that Raap took a knife from the waistband of a family member and held him until authorities arrived.
