Two more positions have become available within the Manitowoc County Courthouse.
While on WOMT’s Be My Guest program recently, Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre explained that with the passing of the State Budget, her department was granted another Assistant District Attorney.
“We were supposed to get two the last budget, but there was an issue and we got one,” LaBre explained. “Now, this go around, the state budget did fill that, and so we have that second ADA position.”
LaBre said that her office was able to hire an experienced individual back in October, who came from another jurisdiction.

There was also good news with the recently passed County Budget.
“We did get an additional paralegal position to help with the caseload,” the Manitowoc County DA said. “It’s been a long time since we have had a new position with the County. We are very pleased and thankful that the County gave us that paralegal position.”
With the inclusion of these two new positions in the courthouse, LaBre is hopeful that she and her team will be able to catch up on their backlog of cases, which exacerbated in 2020 with the COVID pandemic.
