Green Bay Firefighters are saying that an unattended cooking vessel is to blame for a fire on the East side of the City late last week.
Fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of Cherry Street at around 4:00 PM Friday to battle the fire.
Upon their arrival, firefighters noted smoke and flames coming from the kitchen, and were able to extinguish the blaze in about 15 minutes.
Their quick reaction time limited the damage to about $20,000. No injuries were reported, but one adult and two children have been displaced.
The GBFD is reminding citizens to never leave food cooking unattended and to always have both a working smoke detector and a working fire extinguisher on hand.
