A 17-year-old male charged in the attack of a woman on the East River Trail in De Pere has entered a plea of Not Guilty.
Miles Jimmy Cruz has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, 1st Degree Sexual Assault Causing Great Bodily Harm, Kidnapping, Strangulation, Suffocation, and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
Cruz allegedly attacked a woman on the trail on October 5th, leaving her to die while her 4-week-old baby lay in the grass 40 to 50 yards away.
Authorities arrested Cruz because he matched a witness description of a male who was in the area at the time.
The victim’s DNA was found on Cruz’s clothing and parts of his hands, while Cruz’s DNA was found under the victim’s fingernails.
He is due back in court on February 11th for a status hearing.
