This past Thanksgiving, November 25, 2021, marked the First Annual Thanksgiving Community Meal put on by the Hunger Coalition of Manitowoc County.
The meal was held from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM in partnership with Roncalli High School. They served all the classics like turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, and other Thanksgiving staples.
Nearly 250 meals were served with the help of about 50 volunteers. The food was sponsored by Piggly Wiggly, Meijer, Festival Foods, and Skana Aluminum.
The Executive Director of United Way, Ashley Bender, said, “It was a very successful day and the Coalition plans to do it again next year.”
One guest even stated this was the first full meal they had in a long time.
