For many people, it just isn’t quite Christmas until they drive south of Valders to partake in the Christmas at Sinawa festivities.
The holiday fun at Camp Sinawa is scheduled to take place this weekend, at their facilities located at 9113 Camp Sinawa Road.
We spoke with Felica Hennessey, who said their volunteers have been working hard to embrace the holiday atmosphere.
“All of the cabins are decorated with different themes, the trails are lighted with luminaries, it’s really magical,” she explained. “There’s food and drinks available, the kids will get to visit with Santa Claus.”
She told us her favorite part of the event is “You get to take a wagon ride through the woods. The woods are all decorated with all kinds of Christmas lights, and snowmen, and Christmas trees. It’s just beautiful.”
The wagons have been traditionally drawn by horses, but it will be a bit different this year.
“This year, our wagon rides are going to be drawn by antique tractors,” Hennessy explained. “There’s an antique tractor club in the area that has graciously offered to help us out.”
The event will start at 4:00 Saturday and Sunday at a cost of $5 per person, or $20 for a carload.
Shuttles will also be available at the former Piggly Wiggly building in Valders.
