The Leo Frigo Bridge in Green Bay was closed for a while yesterday as crews investigated a report of buckling.
A citizen was driving across the bridge and felt a bump, so they reported it to police, who also noticed the bump.
Out of an abundance of caution, the bridge connecting I-43 to the east and west sides of the city was shut down.
Two bridge engineers were called in to perform an extensive review of the bridge where the issue was located, but couldn’t find any safety issues.
The bridge has since been reopened to traffic. The Leo Frigo Bridge did suffer from some buckling back in 2013.
Industrial waste products were located in the soil under the structure, which caused the corrosion of the steel supports.
The repair process required the bridge to be closed for around 4 months.
