It has certainly begun to look a lot like Christmas in Downtown Manitowoc with more than one-hundred Evergleam trees on display in storefronts and at Manitowoc Public Library. “Evergleams on Eighth” is yet again in full swing, with not only displays, but also special programs coming up at the library!
Don’t miss Sparkle!—a seminar on the history of Aluminum Trees and Evergleam collecting—led by Barb Bundy-Jost. This event will be taking place this Thursday, December 2, at 6 PM on the Library’s main floor amidst the glimmer of the Enchnted Evergleam Forest.
In addition to the usual guided trolley tours on the first three Saturdays in December (no trolleys will be running on Christmas Day, but you can book your tickets by going to evergleams.org), Evergleam enthusiasts this year will be treated to a special visit from the author of The Evergleam Book, Theron Georges. An avid collector, researcher, and a wealth of knowledge, Mr. Georges will be available for a Book Signing Session at Manitowoc Public Library this Saturday, December 4, from 11 AM to 12 PM. If you don’t already have a copy of The Evergleam Book, copies will be available for purchase, alongside Mr. Georges’s other book on aluminum trees, Starlight by Revlis: A Sensational Revelation.

Mr. Georges will be in the area to view the Evergleam displays, which include trees from his own personal collection that he generously donated earlier this year to Manitowoc Aluminum Kitsch-mas, Inc., the non-profit group that presents “Evergleams on Eighth.” One dozen of these trees are featured on the main floor of Forefront Dermatology’s call center at 2 N 8th Street, as well as a 163 branch “Silver Supreme” Evergleam and full set of Aluminum Specialty Evergleam accessories at Lakeside Music. Two more items are also featured at the Manitowoc Public Library: an Aluminum Specialty Evergreen Sno-Tip Balsam and Deluxe Holiday Decoration featured in the vignette displays on the Second Floor Balcony. Both can be viewed while visiting for Mr. Georges’s book signing session.
To state the obvious, there’s a lot of Evergleaming expertise available to the Manitowoc community in the very near future. If the twinkle of these aluminum beauties ever caught your attention and you’d like to know more about the history of this incredible, lovely, engineering marvel, just head to Manitowoc Public Library to feed that thirst for knowledge. And then head out to “Evergleams on Eighth” to experience the sparkle filling Downtown Manitowoc in a whole new light! Merry Kitsch-mas everyone!
