Living with HIV is a reality for thousands of Wisconsinites. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports 6926 people had HIV at the end of 2020.
208 people in Wisconsin were newly diagnosed with HIV last year. Most new diagnoses were identified in Milwaukee, Dane, and Brown counties.
Today (Wednesday) is the 33rd annual World AIDS Day, a show of support for people living with HIV and remembrance of those who’ve lost their lives to end-stage HIV. UW Health placed more than 800 red ribbons on Bascom Hill to represent each person with HIV in Dane County.
