A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy was attacked yesterday afternoon while responding to a call on I-41.
According to Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt, one of his deputies was dispatched to the area of I-41 just north of Highway 23 on a report of a person running in and out of traffic.
The yet-unnamed Deputy arrived at around 2:30 PM and made contact with the 32-year-old Milwaukee man, who has a history of mental health issues.
The suspect reportedly attacked the deputy, causing a significant knee injury and scrapes to his face and hands.
The Deputy was eventually able to handcuff the man, and both were taken to an area hospital.
A charge of Resisting Arrest Causing Injury is expected to be filed, but more charges could be added following a full investigation.
