
While there are still a few days left in the gun deer season, the harvest numbers are down in Manitowoc County.
According to the stats released by the Wisconsin DNR, 1,072 deer have been harvested so far in the County, with 494 of them being bucks, and the remaining 578 being does.
This is down from 1,335 last year, and down from the five-year average of 1,420. The numbers are even lower in Sheboygan County, where only 740 deer have been collected.
That is significantly fewer than last year’s number of 1,103, and the five-year average of 993.
These numbers are echoed in the statewide statistics.
47,529 bucks have been harvested in the state, along with 38,331 does, which leaves a grand total of 85,860.
That is down from the nearly 100,000 last year, and the five-year average of just shy of 108,000.
