Alsum Farms & Produce, Inc. in Friesland Wisconsin has issued a recall on their yellow and red onion products due to a possible health risk.
The affected onions were sourced from Keeler Family Farms and are being recalled because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
While cooking the onions to 165 degrees would kill the bacteria, many people eat onions raw, which is why they are being recalled.
The affected onions were imported from Mexico and are labeled “Produce of Mexico”.
Heidi Randall, the COO of Alsum Farms & Produce said of the recall, “The health and safety of our customers is our top priority. We advise consumers to check their home pantries for any recalled product remaining to minimize even the slightest risk to public health.”
