Freshman running back Braelon Allen pounded Nebraska’s defense for 228 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as the Badgers held on for a 35-28 victory.
That win means Wisconsin can claim the Big Ten West title next weekend by beating Minnesota.
If they beat the Gophers, U-W would be in the conference title game for the fourth time in the last six years.
Nebraska’s record fell to 3-and-8, but seven of its eight defeats have been by a touchdown or less.
Despite the losing record, the Cornhuskers gouged Wisconsin’s nation-leading defense for 452 total yards.
The win vaulted Wisconsin into number-18 on the coaches’ football poll, up two spots from last week.
