A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly hit his girlfriend with a cellphone.
Officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of South 21st Street at around 4:30 AM on Monday to investigate a domestic violence report.
The female victim told police that she and her boyfriend were asleep when their child woke up and began crying.
The 25-year-old man reportedly yelled at the child, and when the mother asked him to stop, an argument ensued.
The man reportedly told the woman to leave but grabbed her cellphone before she could.
As the woman attempted to get her phone, the man reportedly struck her with it, threw it across the room, and struck her several more times.
A mutual friend of the couple witnessed the incident and confirmed the story, while the suspect denied any physical altercation occurred.
The man was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Battery, each with Domestic Violence Enhancers, as well as Resisting an Officer and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
