Four professional wrestling legends were on hand last Friday at Laacks Hall in Johnsonville, as the Pink Heals, alongside One Fall Entertainment, held a fundraiser for the organization.
In the main event of the evening, the GLCW Champion Backwoods Brown took on ECW and WWE icon, Rhyno.
We spoke with Rhyno prior to the match and asked why he wanted to take part in this fundraiser for the Pink Heals.
“We have all been touched with a family member or friend that has had cancer,” he said. “Obviously this is a very special cause, and I think whenever you can get out there and help people it’s great. People helping people is a great thing.”
We also spoke with John Albright, who was one of the major organizers for the event with the Pink Heals, who said it was great to see so many people come out to support their cause.
“We have huge community support. We have 40 sponsors for tonight’s show. Either financially sponsored us or threw a raffle basket at us,” he explained. “I’m a huge wrestling fan from a kid on, so I’m in Heaven. This is great.”
Appleton resident and former WWE superstar Swoggle was also on the card, and took part in a six-man tag match, while Sheboygan native and former WCW star Tough Tom served as the special guest referee for a match featuring ECW legend, the Innovator of Violence, Tommy Dreamer.
After his match, Dreamer took to the microphone, where he revealed that he is actually a two-time skin cancer survivor, and was happy to see so many people come out to support not only indie wrestling but also the Pink Heals.
