The U-W men’s hockey team suffered a 3-0 loss to Michigan in the Big Ten opener 3-0 Thursday night in Ann Arbor.
Goaltender Jared Moe tried his best to keep the Badgers in the game, stopping 35 of the 38 shots he faced.
Erik Portillo made 28 saves in the Wolverines’ shutout.
The teams play game two tonight at 7:30 PM at Yost Ice Arena.
The number-one Wisconsin women’s hockey team opens a W-C-H-A series this afternoon at Minnesota State Mankato.
That game is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
The Badgers improved to 10-and-0 with a sweep of second-ranked Ohio State last weekend at LaBahn Arena.
The 5-and-3 Mavericks were swept by fifth-ranked Minnesota in a home-and-home series.
U-W won a pair of one-goal games against Minnesota State last season.
