A 67-year-old Texas man is identified as the pilot killed in a northeast Wisconsin plane crash near the town of Maple Valley.
The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office says the man from Grand Prairie, Texas died at the scene Wednesday night.
Investigators say fighter jets responded to an “unresponsive, single-engine general aviation aircraft” and monitored the plane before it hit the ground in a wooded area.
Authorities found the wreckage by pinging the cellphone of the pilot.
His name hasn’t been released.
