The man found guilty of smuggling in the fentanyl that killed an inmate in the Manitowoc County Jail last year has been sentenced.
Jerid Hanson will spend 12 more years in prison for his actions and will spend an additional 12 years on extended supervision upon his release.
Hansen had hidden the drugs in his body before being taken into custody in September of last year.
Jail staff did locate some of the drugs during a search of his person but missed some of it.
Hansen then took what was left, and gave it to Justin Hall, who was found dead in his cell.
Hansen pleaded guilty to one count of 1ST Degree Reckless Homicide, and six other charges were read into the record.
