The Two Rivers Personnel and Finance Committee gathered last night in City Hall to begin the review of City Manager Greg Buckley’s proposed nearly $35 million 2022 Executive Budget.
Buckley gave Seehafer News a quick rundown of his proposal.
“The proposed General Fund Budget, at just over $10.8 million, is up 1.75 percent,” he explained. “The various utility funds electric, water, sewer, storm sewer, and solid waste are all fee supported and taken all together total about $18 million.”
Buckley elaborated on his proposed major capital projects for next year.
“We are proposing the reconstruction of 17th Street from the bridge to the beach over at Pierce Street at the Neshotah Beach area,” he said. “And we’re proposing a resurfacing project on a portion of Zlatnik Drive.”
Other proposed items include borrowing $2.8 million for various infrastructure projects, $700,000 to pay off a new Fire Department aerial platform truck currently on order which would replace a 28-year-old ladder truck, $500,000 for the Central Park 365 Project, various park improvements, and a tax increase of one and a half to two percent dedicated to paying down debt service on capital projects.
A public hearing on the budget is tentatively planned for the middle of November with the full Council expected to take its vote no later than December 6th.
