Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz knows it won’t be easy to run the ball against Wisconsin’s defense Saturday.
The tenth-ranked Hawkeyes are averaging just 116 yards per game on the ground and the Badgers only allow 53 yards.
Ferentz said about U-W Tuesday, “these guys are really good on defense, 200 yards is probably not realistic, but we have to run the ball effectively to have a chance to win.”
Wisconsin racked up 342 rushing yards last Saturday at Purdue. Iowa beat the Badgers 28-7 last season in Iowa City.
The mayors of Altoona, Iowa and Altoona, Wisconsin are holding a friendly wager on Saturday’s Hawkeyes at Badgers football game.
Iowa Mayor Dean O’Connor is putting up steaks from the Big Steer restaurant and beer from Brightside Aleworks.
Altoona, Wisconsin Mayor Brendan Pratt is wagering beer from Modicum Brewing, bratwurst from Rump’s Butcher Shoppe and locally sourced cheese curds.
Mayor O’Connor of Altona, Iowa won a bet earlier this season on the Hawkeyes’ win over Penn State with his counterpart in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
