Deputies are credited with stopping a suicide attempt in the Dane County jail Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says a 31-year-old man was found with a ligature around his neck tied to the bars on his cell.
The deputies were able to remove it from his neck and provide medical attention. The man never lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital.
He was treated and later returned to the jail. The man will be monitored under the jail’s suicide precaution protocol.
