Two residents of Whitelaw are dead following a crash in New Denmark over the weekend.
According to information released by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Deputies responded to the crash on County Road R at Cooperstown Road just before 11:00 PM on Saturday.
Through their investigation, they determined that a vehicle traveling west on Cooperstown Road failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, colliding with another vehicle traveling south on R.
The westbound vehicle ended up in a nearby field and started on fire.
The vehicle was reportedly burned down to its metal frame.
A 42-year-old man and 41-year-old female from Whitelaw died at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 29-year-old Green Bay man and his 31-year-old passenger were taken to an area hospital for treatment, where the passenger was airlifted to Milwaukee.
The driver was then booked into the Brown County Jail on several criminal charges.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident, and the names of those involved have not yet been released.
