Wisconsin’s wolf hunt may not happen this year. A Dane County judge on Friday issued an order that halts the hunt until the lawsuits surrounding it can be heard.
This year’s hunt is supposed to begin in about three weeks. The judge says the state’s Department of Natural Resources broke the rules when it set a quota of just 130 wolves for this year’s hunt.
Hunter groups in the state say DNR needs to appeal the ruling, and quickly so that hunters aren’t deprived of another hunting season.
