The S.S. Badger Carferry will look a bit more polished next sailing season.
The Badger will soon be sent off to Sturgeon Bay, where it will be drydocked for the off-season and will get a fresh coat of paint.
This is a part of the regularly scheduled maintenance that occurs every five years.
It is believed that the last time the 69-year-old vessel was painted it was owned by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway.
The ship will retain its iconic black hull, white top, and red striped design.
Another major upgrade coming to the Badger is the replacement of the lifeboats as the cranes that lower the boats into the water will be replaced.
The full inspection is expected to last about 10 days, which will include a full check of the mechanical parts of the ship.
