The Packers have made another significant mid-season addition to the defense.
E-S-P-N is reporting they have signed former Houston Texans edge rusher Whitney Mercilus.
Houston released him Tuesday.
In six games this season, the 31-year-old Mercilus has three sacks, four tackles for loss, and three quarterback hits.
With Za’Darius Smith and Chauncey Rivers on I-R – and Preston Smith dealing with an oblique injury – the depth is needed.
Mercilus ranks second in Houston franchise history with 57 career sacks, behind former Badgers standout J-J Watt.
